"LG AI Research and KOSCOM Partner to Launch EXAONE-Powered AI Service for the Korean Stock Market"
The first lesson our Time Series Analysis 101 lecturer taught us was that we shouldn’t even try to predict future stock prices straight up.
When discussing exchange rate impacts with colleagues, we keep on concluding that if we were able to predict exchange rates, we’d be sipping piƱa coladas at a beach.
In other news, LG AI Research and KOSCOM:
Built on EXAONE BI, AI-Powered Equity Forecast Score (AEFS) is a financial data product that predicts the expected price movement of individual stocks over the next four weeks while providing AI-generated commentary explaining the rationale behind each prediction.
I suppose one approach to overcome the efficient market hypothesis is to let everyone trade on the same forecast, implementing a self-fulfilling prophecy.
While I was lamenting so-called agentic submissions on GIFT-eval that perform roughly as the underlying foundation models in an earlier post, one of the two submissions that do rank (significantly?) differently from the rest is EXAONE-Forecast-Agent by LG AI Research (at time of writing with a MASE of 0.610 and a CRPS of 0.419). Perhaps they do have figured it out.
